Dr Melanie Smith
Dr. Melanie H. Smith is a board certified otolaryngologist. She grew up in Cabot, Arkansas where she graduated high school. She obtained her college degree at Baylor University in Waco, TX, followed by her medical degree at UAMS in Little Rock, AR. Dr. Smith’s residency training took her to New York City where she completed her otolaryngology training at Albert Einstein/ Montefiore Medical Center. She returned to Arkansas to private practice in 2000.
When not at work, Dr. Smith is kept busy as the mother of 4 children ages 13-21. She enjoys many activities including hiking, cycling, and reading as well as baking for her children. She is an avid aquarist and maintains a large saltwater aquarium. Her active lifestyle, enables her to keep her focus on work and family.
Dr. Smith currently is treating patients of all ages in every aspect of general otolaryngology and is accepting new patients.
Christopher Engelkes, Au.D., CCC-A
Dr. Chris joined Arkansas Ear Nose and Throat in 2024, and currently serves as the Clinical Audiologist as well as the hearing aid and implantable hearing device expert. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (F-AAA) and Certified by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (CCC-A). He graduated with his Doctorate in Audiology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and his Bachelors in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR). Dr. Chris is an Arkansas native, prior to joining Arkansas ENT he has been in practice in the ear nose and throat medical setting since 2012 in Texas and Arizona, but has since decided to return home. He specializes in hearing loss, tinnitus, hearing aids and balance disorder testing and therapy. As a hearing aid wearer himself he has extensive knowledge in hearing aid technology, proper selection, fitting, programming adjustments and tinnitus therapy. He also has experience with implantable hearing devices.
He was named "Audiology Ambassador of the Year" in 2012 from the Arkansas Speech Language and Hearing Association and 2013 “Audiology Student Clinician of the Year” from UAMS.
In his spare time Dr. Chris likes to spend time with his family and friends, his hobbies include boating on Lake Ouachita and Greers Ferry, spending time on his family farm in Southeast Arkansas, hiking, traveling, and riding his bicycle on the Arkansas River Trail.
