Ear Disorders

Care for Ear Disorders in Central Arkansas

Ear Conditions We Treat

At Arkansas ENT, our board-certified Ear, Nose, and Throat specialists provide comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of ear disorders affecting hearing, balance, and overall ear health. We proudly serve patients throughout Central Arkansas and the Little Rock area, offering expert care for both common and complex ear conditions in a patient-focused setting.

Hearing Loss

Hearing loss can affect one or both ears and may develop suddenly or gradually. ENT doctors evaluate and treat all types of hearing loss, including:

  • Conductive hearing loss, caused by problems in the ear canal or middle ear
  • Sensorineural hearing loss, related to the inner ear or auditory nerve
  • Mixed hearing loss, a combination of both

Treatment may include medical therapy, hearing aids, or surgical options, depending on the cause.

Ear Infections (Otitis)

Ear infections are common in both children and adults and can involve different parts of the ear:

  • Outer ear infections (otitis externa or “swimmer’s ear”)
  • Middle ear infections (otitis media)
  • Chronic ear infections, which may lead to persistent drainage or hearing problems

Arkansas ENT provides accurate diagnosis and treatment to relieve pain, clear infection, and prevent complications.

Tinnitus (Ringing in the Ear)

Tinnitus is the perception of ringing, buzzing, or other sounds when no external sound is present. It may be associated with hearing loss, noise exposure, ear injury, or other medical conditions. We evaluate the cause and offer management strategies to reduce symptoms and improve quality of life.

Balance and Dizziness

The inner ear plays a key role in balance. ENT doctors commonly treat conditions such as:

  • Vertigo
  • Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)
  • Ménière’s disease
  • Vestibular neuritis and labyrinthitis

Treatment focuses on restoring balance, reducing dizziness, and preventing falls.

Earwax (Cerumen) Buildup

Excess or impacted earwax can cause hearing loss, ear pain, fullness, or ringing. We safely remove earwax using medical techniques that protect the ear canal and eardrum.

Eardrum and Middle Ear Disorders

We diagnose and manage conditions affecting the eardrum and middle ear, including:

  • Perforated (ruptured) eardrums
  • Fluid buildup behind the eardrum
  • Eustachian tube dysfunction
  • Cholesteatoma, an abnormal skin growth in the middle ear

These conditions may require medical treatment or surgical intervention.

Ear Pain and Pressure

Ear pain or pressure may result from infections, sinus or nasal problems, jaw disorders, or changes in altitude. We determine the source of symptoms and provide targeted treatment.
